Family businesses are special. Successful ones are built on the commitment to do things differently, to uphold the family’s values and take a long term perspective, for the good of those they serve. ElderSpan Management is one of those businesses.
How we operate today is rooted in our Founders’ commitment to do things differently. Greg and Carol Griffin’s idea was to develop a better assisted living model for the senior living industry – resident-centered and healthcare-focused. Their motivation was Carol’s mother, Louise Kionka, who was battling Parkinson’s Disease and passed away just days before their first residence opened. They wanted something better for her.
Greg and Carol went on to develop other senior living residences and to establish ElderSpan Management, which has grown into a premier senior living services company developing and managing senior communities throughout south central and southwest Wisconsin. But ElderSpan also remains a family business. Greg and Carol’s son, David, now owns ElderSpan, and even though we serve well over 600 residents and employ over 350 staff members, we’re still committed to Greg and Carol’s vision. We still do things differently for the good of those we serve, and we still see every resident and staff member as a member of our ElderSpan family.
